Benicàssim is a small city located a bit more than 10 km away from the city of Castellón de la Plana, a perfect destination to enjoy holidays at the sea.

Greenway route
Greenway route

A coastal route that shows the nature of the coastline from Benicàssim and Oropesa, you can do it in bicycle and walking. The route between the two towns is 5.5 km in one way and 5.5 km in the return, a total of 11 km that takes around 1 hour and a half. When doing this fantastic route, you will continuously pass near cliffs over the sea and viewpoints. 

At the end of the route, you will be able to contemplate the first buildings of Oropesa, being able to go down to the promenade and visit the bars on the beach.

This Natural Park is 3200 hectares long. It has a mountainous area behind the coastal town of Benicàssim. A beautiful contrast between the sea and the mountains will make you fall in love with the lush landscape. In the Natural Park, you can also find the Monastery, built in 1694, accompanied by several hermitages around it. 

 When you go up to the Desert de les Palmes, you will find several viewpoints where you will have the opportunity to see the best panoramic views of Benicàssim and its surroundings. In the highest point of the park you can also find the restaurant that is located next to the monastery.

Las Villas de Benicàssim receives in the name of the Valencian Biarritz since it was the scene of many celebrations castellonenses This area was divided into three large spaces characterized by being crowded since parties were celebrated there accompanied by music and fireworks.  Considered an important tourist center, you can currently stroll along the Paseo Pilar Coloma where you will contemplate pleasant views as well as a renovated area dedicated to restaurants. Also, you can visit the Voramar beach.

Currently there are 51 registered villas, 19 of them signposted.

The Tower of San Vicente dates from the 16th century and is Renaissance in style. Formed by 18 watchtowers, this tower's main objective was to keep the area under surveillanceand, if necessary, defend it against any corsair attack.


It is characterized by being square in plan with two circular turrets at the height of the terrace.  Outside, it is surrounded by a garden located by the sea with a large leisure area. 

Peniscola

One of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Peñiscola, has a historic center that goes into the Mediterranean Sea and forms a small peninsula. The urbanized area of Peñiscola extends up to 5 km along the coast, although almost all tourist attractions and heritage interest are concentrated in the Old Town, where the Castle of Papa Luna predominates. In addition, getting lost in its streets you will find the Casa de les Petxines, whose facade is decorated with shells and if you go to the lighthouse you will find great viewpoints.

Morella is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. It has a beautiful medieval village and several interesting monuments to visit such as the Church of Santa Maria or its castle, declared as Historic-Artistic Monument. Its medieval walls have a length of about 2500 meters with a height between 10 and 15 meters. This city will also make you fall in love with its tradition, monuments, gastronomy, folklore and surroundings.

Discover Vilafamés strolling through its quiet streets that will transport you to its Arab origins, with narrow streets and corners that will make you fall in love. Admire the impressive parish church and its 15th century palace or the Roca Grossa, a stone mould that you will find as you walk up the main street. The historic centre of Vilafamés was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2005.

Its old town centre was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 2004, and is one of the best jewels to be seen in the Valencian Community.

There is a passionate about fauna and vegetation, do not forget to visit The Columbretes Islands.

These Islands are one of the most interesting options for a good excursion in Castellón.The "Columbretes", if they are presented as one of the island areas of greatest ecological interest in the Mediterranean, are made up of a series of islets and reefs, all located on a depth of more than 80 meters and approximately 60 kilometers from the coast of Castellón.

The Columbretes archipelago is made up of four volcanic islands: L’illa Grossa, La Foradada Island, La Ferrera Island and El Bergatín Island (Carallot). In reality, it is only possible to visit the Illa Grossa. The excursion takes place by the stairs of the port of Illa Grossa to the lighthouse, passing through the Visitor Center where it has an exhibition on human history and fishing in the surroundings of the Columbretes. During the journey, you can observe numerous birds and seabirds, lizards, insects and plants of the island flora.
